Medical Practice Branding Photography
A specialty clinic needed a full website's worth of branded photography, planned and delivered in a single session, with every image mapped to a purpose before the shoot began.
When a private pulmonary and sleep medicine practice launched a new website, the provider needed guidance on exactly what to shoot, how to prepare the office, and which images would do the most work for the practice.

Client snapshot
A private specialty clinic in Huntington Beach, CA, focused on pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. One physician and a small office staff. Images needed for a full website build, including the about page, team page, patient-facing materials, facility photography, and exterior building shots.
The provider coordinated directly with Christopher Todd Studios, without a marketing team or agency in between.
What triggered the project
The practice was launching a new website and needed photography to support every page. For a medical practice, the website is often the first interaction a prospective patient has with the provider. The imagery does most of the work before a single word is read.
The provider knew photography was needed. What was less clear was exactly what to shoot, how to prepare the office, and which images would actually serve the practice versus which ones would simply fill space on a page.
The real problem
Most providers approach a branding shoot the way they approach a headshot. Show up, take some photos, and see what comes back. That approach produces images that look fine individually but don't add up to anything coherent when placed on a website together.
A medical practice website needs to answer specific patient questions before those patients even think to ask them. Who is this doctor? What does the office feel like? Will I be comfortable here? Is this practice organized and professional? Without a plan for which images answer which questions, the shoot produces a collection rather than a brand.
How it was handled
The process started with a consultation where the provider and photographer reviewed the website's needs together. The output was a clear shot list, every image mapped to a specific page and purpose on the site. Nothing went on the list that didn't have a job to do.
Guidance was provided in advance on how to prepare the office visually so it looked organized and professional on camera. The team was directed on attire: white coats and office uniforms worn consistently across every image so the practice looked cohesive throughout the site.
For the patient interaction photos, a subject was brought in to play the patient role, creating authentic behind-the-scenes moments between the physician and a patient that felt real rather than staged. Front office and patient interaction scenes were handled the same way.

Exterior building and signage photography used the right lens selection to make the building look appealing and professional rather than flat. That decision is made before the shoot, not during it.
The result
A complete set of branded images covering every page of the practice website: physician and staff portraits, facility and environment photography, patient interaction scenes, and exterior building shots.
Images went live across the practice website, including the about page, team page, and patient-facing materials. The site launched with a consistent visual identity throughout, presenting the practice as professional, organized, and approachable to prospective patients.
Every image on the site was planned before the session began. Nothing on launch day felt like a placeholder.
THE TAKEAWAY
A full website's worth of branded photography, planned and delivered in a single session, with every image mapped to a specific purpose before the shoot began.
