TeWinkle Park Costa Mesa Family Portraits

TeWinkle park family portraits tend to have an alpine feel. This 49-acre park in Costa Mesa is perfect for families who are looking for a mountain look without having to drive 2 hours to Big Bear. Here you will find tall pine trees throughout the park, a large lake with a running fountain, and a hillside with giant boulders.

Why It's Great

We especially love taking family photos here because we can take candids of the kids climbing the boulders, chasing the giant geese, and posing at the bridge over the lake. I think I just gave away all my secrets to photographing here. This Costa Mesa park has a great loop trail for family portraits. I like to start our sessions with families at the boulders, then work our way up the hill, stopping at a few spots in the trees, en route to the waterfall, and finally, ending at the duck pond. TeWinkle is also an easy spot to find in central Orange County, located near the 405 & 55 freeways.

Other great locations nearby are The OC MIX and The Newport Pier

About This Portrait Session

The VanderBurgh family wanted to get a professional family photo because their daughter had just started high school, and they wanted to mark the milestone. We choose TeWinkle Park in Costa Mesa for the fall look so they could use the images for their annual holiday cards.

We sent Angie our style guide to help her plan the family's outfits to coordinate with the fall colors of the park.

During the session, we got beautiful weather and golden light as we approached the sunset. Angie was so thankful we were able to help her plan their outfits and suggest a location that suited her vision.

Bottom Line

TeWinkle Park is a quiet park in Costa Mesa with a beautiful loop trail that's great for family photography. Huntington Central Park in Huntington Beach is another nearby park to consider for family portraits that we love.. It's relaxed and easy to find, with an alpine feeling in your photos.
